"Sowing the Seeds of Learning" Meeting Report, Pt. 6[previous section] [index] [next section] Day 3 Check-In We began Friday with a check in on these questions from Joann. What sparked your passion? What did you learn? After some time for reflection we shared our learnings then our experience of the Seed Exchange process.
Day 3 Agenda The Design Team met after dinner on Thursday to debrief Day 1 & 2 and review the existing agenda for Day 3. Some adjustments were made based on what they were hearing the group needed for the last day. Joann presented the revised agenda.
Communities
of Practice Myron describes the dynamics of how communities of practice can develop, thrive and create increasing capacity to generate common knowledge and innovative practice. Reviewing some of the activities we experienced, he illustrated how each process invited the formation of individual, small group, school and district identitypeople connected around work that mattered to them, and through dialogue expanded their understanding. The processes we engaged in were designed to create information abundance, allowing our preconceived notions to be challenged, and new ideas to propagate. All of this work was done against a background of quality relationships. Great care was given by the design team, the foundation and each other to be in relationships as respectful, trusting peers in inquiry about questions that matter. These are essential conditions for nourishing effective communities of practice.
Planting
New Seeds Before reporting out our district plans, we shared what we were learning in working together in the district groups.
Sharing
the Crop After the work session, each district reported back to the large group on their plans for going forward. Flip charts from the groups that did them are here and on the next 4 pages. We began with Northview.
